Description

Diseases of the ankle and foot can be very debilitating for patients. After all, we stand all day and the feet play a central role in stability.

Many inflammatory diseases show their manifestation in the lower extremities. In addition, however, there are also degenerative and overuse conditions.

These 12 cases, carefully selected and annotated by Professor Iris Eshed from Tel Aviv, offer a good introduction to the diagnosis of these diseases.

Eshed, Iris

Iris Eshed

Dr. Eshed is a professor of radiology based in Israel, specialized in musculoskeletal imaging with a focus on arthritides. Dr. Eshed is the head of the musculoskeletal unit in the department of diagnostic imaging at Sheba Medical Center and is also the head of the department of radiology at Sackler School of Medicine of the Tel Aviv University in Israel. The majority of her research projects are in the field of spondyloarthritis, where she is also connected with other researchers from Germany, Denmark, Canada, the UK, and more. Her research is mainly dedicated to the characterization of the radiographic aspects of sacroiliac joints and the spine in spondyloarthritis and its differential diagnoses. Dr. Eshed is an active member of the ASAS group, ESSR arthritis subcommittee, EULAR arthritis subcommittee, and the Israeli radiological society.
